Stephenson, vicepresident (in the chair); Messrs Wilson, Cook, Meenan, Hazlett, and Gourley. The Secretary reported that on the last day ot the races his attention was called to a man named Alexander Smith, who was infringing the law; that, by instruction of the stewards! the man was turned off the course; that he returned to the course just at the conclusion of the races, got a^mob together and addressed them, and caused a great disturbance, which was ultimately quelled by the police in attendance at the course.—lt was resolved that Alexander Smith be disqualified and warned off the Dunedin course and all courses where the rules of racing are in force. The Cromwell Jockey Club has decided to make the Cromwell Derby an open event instead of being confined to district horses The motion was only carried by the casting vote of the chairman. According to a correspondent of the Weekly Press, Mr S. Powell has practically decided to decline any negotiations with the D.J.C. re the startership, as he does not approve of the terms of the club's v.solution. He will only start for one meeting for the C.J.C. unless better terms are given.
