THE S.S. ELGINSHIRE.
(Per Umitkd Press Association.) t Timaru, March 31. ° Negotiations between Lloyd's agent here and r the Home office re the Elginshire were com- * pleted to-day. Tenders were called a fortnight t ago, to be in last Thursday. Several were J received, but only one was considered available, -1 that of Messrs Scott Bros., of Christchurch \ for L 19.000 for delivery at Lyttelton dry dock! J This being cabled to Lloyd's, was declined, ! with instruction that no offer be taken except on the principle of the proportion of value \ saved. Messrs Scott Bros, being informed of this, offered to dock the vessel— "no cure no ] pay"—for one-third her value in dock. This j was cabled Homo, and to-day a reply came accepting it. Messrs Scott Bros, begin work at once. A rough estimate of the value of the '' vessel is LSOOO. I
