MEMORIAL SERVICE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I see in to-day's .Times that the Baptists in Christchurch have held a memorial service " for "Mr Spurgeon. Do they believe, like the Roman Catholic JChurch in regard to Cardinal Manning, that Mr Spurgeon also is in purgatory ? Let us have clear lines. The way for the Baptists to commemorate Mr Spurgeon is to lay aside sentiment and imitate his magnificent witness bearing.—l am, &c, Maori .Hill, February 4. W. Paterson.
