A 370z nugget was recently found on the Percy river, Queensland.

The total quantity of sugar exported from Queensland since June last is 28,669 tons.

A social evening was hold at the Waikaia manse on the 28th ult., the occasion being the silver wedding of Mr and Mrs Brown. A silver butter dish was presented to Mrs Brown by a few lady friends.

A new pest has been developed on the Irish Peach apples in the Wanganui district. The first appearance is a black spot, which spreads until the apple cracks open. A whole crop may be thus ruined.

J. H. Ormsby, a well-known labour organiser, has been arrested at Barcaldihe, Queensland, on a charge of embezzling the funds of the Shearers' Union.

Bathers and visitors to Lawyer's Head complain of the action of some person or persons in shooting an old horse at that place and leaving its body lying in one of the caves. As this occurred some days past, it can readily be imagined that persons wishing to visit this picturesque spot do so at considerable inconvenience.

A telegram from Mackay, Queensland, states that a Fijian named Tui Tonga shot his wife Lily, a South Sea islander, at the Kanakas' Hospital with a revolver. _ Tonga was formerly a wardsman at the hospital. After firing at his wife he attempted suicide by cutting his throat, but did not succeed in wounding himself dangerously.
