ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(Per United Press Association.)
Auckland, February 2.
The man who was run over on the tramway at Epsom last night and who died afterwards in the hospital has been identified as a pensioner named Patrick Dunn. He was a man of eccentric habits and had no settled place of abode.
A man named Thomas Powley, employed at the Milburn Lime and Cement Works, met with a remarkable accident on Friday evening. He was engaged with some other men stripping the grass and earth from the top of, the quarry at Milburn, when he fell over thei face of the quarry, _ a height of between 60ft and JOft. When picked up he was quite unconscious, and remained so for several hours. It was feared that he had received some severe internal injury, but when examined by Dr Stewart, of Milton, such was found not to be the case. The mun, however, was very badly bruised about the body; but, considering the height from which he fell, the only wonder is that he was not killed outright. It is pleasing to note that he is now progressing favourably.
