(Peb United Pbess Association.) I Auckland, May 15. At a meeting of the members of the Auckland Agricultural, Pastoral, and Industrial Association to-day, it was recommended that Professor Thomas, of Auckland University College, be appointed with Mr M'Clean to make inquiry into the cause ef the disease prevailing amongst sheep on the East Coast. As the City Council have received further applications from leaseholders for reductions of rent, they have rescinded the resolution which they passed asking that an order-in-council declaring the council subject to the provisions of the Public Bodies' Powers Act be revoked. The Hon. R. J. Seddon was to have returned to-day from his northern trip, but he has been detained, at Eawakawa owing to the heavy weather. He was given a banquet by the people of Eawakawa. - Mr Buckhurst,of Whangarei, has been elected a member of the Board of Education in place of Mr D. Qoldie. Mr W. R. Wilson, of Broken Hill fame, has bought bhe Fahi estate, a few miles from Auckland, and he is going in for blood stock breeding. The residence and furniture, worth many thousands, were to be sold by auction next week, but have been withdrawn. The late Hon. James Williamson was the former owner of Pahi estate. The furniture owned by the late Hon. James Williamson at the Fahi farm and bought by him in London at a cost of about £11,000 has been bought by Mr James Thomson. Mr Thomson w*B the purchaser of Sir George Grey's island home at Kawau, and afterwards became the owner of the late Judge Gillies' residence at Epsom. Wellington, May 15; The case Te Moana and others v. the Public Trustee and Turner was concluded in the Appeal Court to-day, and their Honors reserved decision. The court adjourned until Monday, when the case of Mr Justice Edwards will be taken. Westpobt, May 15. The body of James Mitchell, one of the two yonng men missing since Wednesday, 6th inst., was found in the Buller river this morning. The body was quite naked. So far there is no trace of Joyce, the other missing man. Both men were singlo and residents of Charleston.
