HEAVY WEATHER IN THE NORTH.

(Peb United Press Association.) Auckland, May 15. A gale has been blowing all day, and heavy rain showers falling. Some of the vessels in the harbour, including the barque Alice, dragged their anchors, whilst some of the small boats sank. The weather on the Bast Coast, and outside the Hauraki Gulf, is reported to be very tempestuous. The passage of the steamer Te Anau, from Auckland to Russell, on her way to Sydney, occupied 16 hours. Thames, May 15. At a late hour yesterday evening a northeasterly gale commenced to blow, accompanied by a very heavy downfall of rain, and continued unceasingly all night. In the early morning the gale increased to almost hurricane force, but so far no damage has been reported with the exception of two or three houses being unroofed. The heavy rain has caused a fresh in the KaueraDga and Kirikiri rivers, and resulted in about 1300 logs being brought down for use at the Kauri Timber Company's mills, at which a Urge number of men are employed. Najiee, May 15. The schooner Opotiki, belonging to Auckland, arrived from Gisborne this morning, but in trying to make an entrance, got broadside on to the beach northward ot Westward pier. Captain Blackmails and Seamen Atkins and Wigg got to the shore by a line. The vessel is now high and dry en the beach. There is a strong south-west gale on, with rain. \
