MEETINGS OP SOCIETIES,

Lodge Pioneer of DunediD, 1.0. G.T., held their weekly meeting on Wednesday evening. There was a good attendance of members and visitors, and one member was initiated. The following officers were installed by Bro. Parkinson, district deputy, assisted by Bro. Barnetfc and Bro. Flynn :—C.T., Bro. J. Patterson ; P.C.T., Bro. R. N. Adams; V.T., Sis. Bowie; Secretary, Bis. Cameron; financial seoretary, Bro. J. Lilburne; T., Bro. T. Lack; chaplain, Sis. M'lndoe; SJ.T., Bro. R. N. Adams; guard, Bro.^Bowie; sentry, Bro. Wheeler; DM., Sis. Dryden; AS., Bro. Bennett. Bro. Parkinson gave an address directed specially to the juveniles.

The annual business meeting in connection with the Hanover street Free Reading Room was held on Wednesday evening, when the annual report was read and adopted. The report showed the finances to be at a very low ebb, and it was resolved to take steps with the intention of improving matters, also to formulate a scheme to prevent all pilfering of papers, &c. The following were elected as a oommittee for the ensuing year:— Messrs O'Connor, Wilson, Outram, Bales, Butts, John North, and Churchill; Mr J. H. Walker, hon. secretary and treasurer.
