TIjSTIFIABLB PROVOCATION. The word Wateebury (the name of the city in the U.S.A.. where these celebrated watches are manufactured) has become a synonym throughout these colonies, as elsew ere, for all that is exact and trustworthy as regards to pocket timepieces. The Waterbury watches themselves provoke the admiration of all who wear them. The testimony in their favour is overwhelming, and admits of no dispute, while their .reputation stands absolutely unrivalled. All their parts are made by the most beautiful automatic machinery so wonderfully perfect thaSit would seem impossible for human ingenuity to accomplish more. The Australasian Agents of the Waterbury Watch Company have received thousands of testimonials from grateful wearers of their watches, and every mail brings fresh evidence in support of their wonderful popularity. The following are a few samples of the opinions of those who, having worn these watches, havelearnedfrom experience to appreciate their excellent qualities: —Messrs Mudie & Co., general storekeepers, Warrumbungul, write under date July 30, 1890:—"We have received the watches sent | by you, which have given great satisfaction.: As to the one repaired, the owner would not give it for the best English lever. He says,; "It has been a right good friend to me, and I mean to stick to it to the last, and have it " doctored " each time it is ill,_ the same as myself, and that is not often.' " Mr Akthub Taplin, Cobitty, March 3, 1890 writes:—"l am perfectly satisfied with the Waterbury Watch I have in my possession.- I've seen a good many of the watches, and it is the genera^ opinion that they are good, cheap watches." Mr James Buckley, Hanging Rock, February 7 1890, writes:—"l oonsider the Waterbury Watch one of the premier watches of the age, and an invaluable boon to miners and bnshmen. Considering the number in use in this district there can be no two opinions as to the general satisfaction they give." Mr Geo. Plummee, storekeeper, Dubbo, July 18,1890, writes:—"l am using one of " J " Waterburys with every satisfaction, and have sold scores. In no case have I had any complaints from buyers." HOW TO SAVE £100 A TEAR IN HOUSEKEEPING EXPENSES. The ruin of many a hard-working man is brought about by his wife's inexperience in housekeeping matters. The obliging tradesman who offers to supply her on the "long credit system" is sure to obtain her patronage. She little dreams that she is paying through the nose for everything. It is a fact that firms who allow credit have J to charge 30 or 50 per cent, more for their i goods than those doing business on purely cash principles. This means to some families a loss of £150 or so a year, or, to put it in other words they might have had £150 more in the bank had they dealt at " cash houses."—J. Peterson and Co. continue to ■ supply goods of the best quality at the lowest cash prices at their shops in George and Walker streets.
