FRIENDLY SOCIETY.

The adjourned meeting of the Hand nnd Heart Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., waß held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Stuart street, on Tuesday list, N.G. Bro. Stonebridge presiding. Tha balance sheet presented showed the total receipts for the half year to have teen £978 12s lOd, and' the disbursements £737 15s lid, thns leaving a balance of £21016s lid in favour of the lodge for that term. The sick pay for the six months amounted to no less a sum than £262 Is (exclusive of £30 paid for funeral claims). The membership roll ahowed that there are 430 members Ifmancially sound. There-were 16 members initiated during the half year, and three more were initiated that night. During the evening Pa6t G.M. Bro. Mant was presented by G.M. Bro. Douglas with an emblematioal certificate. In making the presentation Bro. Douglas referred in eulogistic terms to the manner in which Bro. Mant had cwriod out the duties pertaining to the various offices which he had filled in the order, and hoped he would be long spared to take as deep an interest in Oddfellowship as he was doing at tho present time, which sentiment was echoed by all the members present. Fast G.M. Bro. Mant, in a neat Bpeech, Bultably responded. Deputy-Prov. G.M. Bro. Lake (Oaversham Lodge), Bro. Tompklns (Prince of Wales LodKe), and Bro. Moulter (Loyal Dunedln Lodge) replied on uehalf of their respective lodges to the second toast; and Prov. G.M. Bro. Miller .on behalf of the district to the third toast. Tha receipts for the evening amounted to £36 7s 2i.
