Messrs Arthur M'Donald and Co. report as follows for the week ending 16th October :— Wool.-Cablegrams to hand from London to-day report the close of the October aeries of sales at a genofal advance of to Id per lb fnr all descriptions except low and faulty sorts, which remain unchanged. Tho ftdvano'e has been most marked in super combing merinos, finest hullbreds, and quarter backs, but it is indeed good m-ws that the medium [ and coarser grades of crossbreds show a movement in the upward direction, and there is yet much room for further increase in their value. We are already in treaty with a large number of growers for tho purchase of their clipß, and we anticipate a very large business during the season. We are arranging with growers to send their wool to our stores free of all expenses, and to let the wool stand over until they are in Dunedin. In the meantimeall we can cay is that our cl'ents will, we hope, have no reason to regret the confidence placed it Sheepskins continue in very active demand, and we have orders for a considerable quantity. Sincf our last we have operated very freely in all descrip tions, principally large fresh pelted, properly driec skins, including 4000 freezing skins. Prices rule at about equal to 64d to 7id for really good skins; 5d to (lid for medium. Habbitskins.—Our transactions during the wee! include a large number of bags, fadges. and odd bales together with the following Btation lines:—GLAD BIiOOK, two hearts, GALLOWAY, two hearts BKNMORE, R. & Q.
