Sie, —La&t night a ball was given for the pur" pose of opening the new municipal buildings; and as there is likely to be a large loss on the affair, I would like to ask who pays for the difference. If the committee pay, I trust they will pay the gas bill also, and not let it come out of the ratepayers' pocket.—l am, &c., Port Chalmers, September 26. Anxious.
