MARKET REPORT.
Cognac, 12th June 1889. Meeirs Bouyer, Gulllet, and Co., of Cognac, report that the season continues eminently favourable for the vines. They have not suffered in the least from spring frosts, and there is a good show of fruit, whicti only requires fine weather to develop it. The general expectation is that this will prove a good vintage. Farmers are paying great attention to their vines, and treating them liberally, when required, with all the known antidotes against mildew, oldium, &o. . . . There is as yet no positive cure for phylloxera, but sufficient is known to save the vines from further harm. The planting of new vines is being pushed steadily forward, and there Is no doubt that in a very few years abundant vintages will be certain In quod seasons. .
