DUNEDIN CHESS AND DRAUGHTS CLUB.
There was a large gathering oF the members anil their friends In tha chili room, Coffee Palace, last night to witness the presentation of prizes to Hie winners in Hie draughts handicap tournament. Mr William Houston, the president of the club, in a few happy remarks, presented the prizes. Mr James Dalziel Rained the first prize—with a handicap of 13 games, hia score being -13. The prize consisted of Hume's History of England," iv four volumes, Gouldsi Book of Games and Problems," the Inter^ national Match Games between England and Scotprize, his score bein s 45 aud handicap 20. The prize was a handsome editiou of the poetical works of Byron. .Mr EX. Earl and Mr J. P. Bell tied for third prize with a score of -12* (james. Mr Earl had a handicap of 22 games and Mr Bell started from scratch, lhc recipients were heartily cheered us they received the prizes. The club in now in full awing after the holiday srasou.
