LAND BOARD.

Charles Rogel applied for a lease of two acres, block 11, Moernki township cattle market reserve,—Decision deferred for a week. STBATH-TAIEItI. Thomas Popham asked for leave to absent himself for three months from his deferred payment section in Strath-Taieri district.— Granted. WOODLANDS. The "Under-secretary of the Crown Lands wrote, in reference to the recommendation of the Land Board that homestead block 111, Woodlands district, be surveyed, pointing out that any survey which might be undertaken prior to applications being made would require adjustment thereafter, and suggesting that survey fees be deposited by persons when making application—lt was pointed out in the course of conversational remarks by members of the board tbatr if the survey was not made before the applications were received, the applications were sure to conflict with each other, as there would probably bo a large number of applicant.', and that no regulations had yet been made by the Governor for dealing with the laud, nor had the form of application been approved. —Mr Mackenzie said it was over 12 months since the board passed a resolution about this breach; and the department in Wellington having thrown every obstacle in the way, he did not think the department could be in earnest about the settlement of this land. The matter was referred to tho chief commissioner to communicate v.ith the Government as to regulations, forms of application, &c.

CKOOKSTON. The Board resolved to recommend the Government to re-offer for pastoral leasing for aperiod of 14 years, at an upset rental of £5 per annum, sections 40 to 43, block I, Orookston district, surrender of the same hafing been accepted. CATLINS. John Caley applied for rural land, section 37, block IV, Catlins.—Referred to ranger. OTAIiA. A petition was received from 43 settlers in favour of land being opened for settlement in the Otara district, as nearly all the surveyed land had been taken up.—Deferred for a week for information from chief commissioner. ' James Haugh applied to complete purchase of section 14, block I, Otara.-*-The board resolved that, on the applicant paying up all arrears of instalments, it would reconsider its previous resolution. BANSOCKBUKN. John Pride applied for a mineral lease for coal purposes over sections 9 and 12, block I, Bannockburn.—Lease granted for 30 years at 5s per acre per annum. SHOTOVEH. An application from James Wbelan to purchase an agricultural lease for section 25, block IX, Shotover, was recommended for the approval of the Governor. TUAPKKA WEST. The Board resolved to sanction payment of all arrears on the transfer of section 8, block VIII, Tuapeka West, from Philip Chill to George Hughes. HOCK AND FIDLAIt. Mr, Vincent Pyke applied, on behalf of Philip A. Connelly, for renewal of license to occupy sec--47, block VII, and section 5, block XI, Rock and Pillar district.—License to be renewed for a year, at same fee as formerly. CERTIFICATES, The following certificates were granted :— For deferred payment land i Catherine Healey, section 14, block 111, Giramerburn; Sophia Winslade, section' 7, block,"Xl, Kelso. To complete purchase: John Weir, section 15, block VIII, Kelso. LEASES FORFEITED. The following leases were forfeited :—John C. Arbuckle's gold-mining lease of section 6, block IV, Wairapi; Walter S. Smith's lease of section 4, block VII, Kurow; and W. B. Robb and David Knight's lease of section 2, block VII, Kurow. GKEENVALE. Messrs Reid Bros, and Finch, instructed by Mr W. Clark, sen., wrote stating that the declarations made by Mr Clark's son in obtaining a perpetual lease of section 2, block XVII, Greenvale, was incorrect the applicant being under 17 years of age. The board was asked to refund the deposit.—Consideration deferred for a week. CHATTON. ' A letter was received from the chairman of theClutha County Council applying for the control of the ferry reserves at Clydevale punt; sections 1 and 2, block I, Poraabaka, and section 44, block 111, Waitahuna West district, to be vested in the council.—Application to be forwarded to the Government with recommendation that the same be given effect toj the Bruce County Council agreeing to same.
