A FEVER-STRICKEN VESSEL.

There hwe arrived at Liverpool from the AVest Coaat of Africi nine men, being the captain and crew of the brigantine Anna, which struck one of the shallow bars and was afterwards condemned. Tho crew were stricken down with African fever, and notwithstanding that it is ne-rly a month since they left their vessel, they still bear traces of the effects of the disease. The Anna was chartered by a Liverpool firm ior the conveyance of a cargo of African produce from the Qua Eboe and Old Calabar rivers to the Continent. She bad about 150 casks of oil on board, and as she was being towed over tho Qua Eboe bar by a steam launch sho struck. She was damaged and commenced to leak, so that it wis deemed advisable to return with her inside the river again. The oil was unloaded and a survey held, when the vessel was condemned. Tlie cr-w had In the meantime suffered terribly from the coast fever. The •econd mate was down four times with the malady during the voyage, and at one time the m*te was the only one who was able to be on deck. He, too, was then suffering from the fever. The men were received on boord the African Company's steamerAmbriz, ond the kind treatment they received on board from the doctor and others had tho effect of bringing them round. The wonder was that none of them succumbed before being takeu ..n board the Ambrii. The men on arrival at Liverpool were received at the local Sailors' Home.—Shipping Gazette, September 21.
