DRAUGHTS TOURNAMENT.

The return draughts match Hosgiel v. Ricnarton took place in the Oddfellows' Hall, Musgiel, ou Friday evening. The last match played, which resulted in a draw, was a district ono; but. since then draughts playing as received considerable impetus, resulting in the formation, of a club at Mosgiel' numbering GO member*, the mayor being hon. secretary. The match played on Friday evening was the initial one of the club, therefore the interest displayed on both sides was particularly keen, and during the evening between 40 and SO paid the small charge made for admission. It was thought at one time that the Kiccarton players would carry all before them, but the younger club proved too many for.tho senior one, winning an amicable and well-contested match by two games. Mr D. Burnett captained for the Mosgiel, and Mr J. Short) for the Kiccarton. There were 23 players ou each side. Subjoined are the scores:—
