CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.

Report for the week ending Friday, April 16:—

A considerable amount* of settling up hag taken place during the past week, and it lias been alike satisfactory to buyer and seller, rejections being the exception, and not the rule. Wheat.—Th&^uufavomable cables from London, and the fact of California loading cargoes for Australia, has had the effect of slightly weakening the markets here, except for Tuscan (prime), which has fully maintained its premier position, among wheats and'is eagerly sought after at 3s 5d to 3s s^B. Pearl and Hunter's, however, although no lower than last quotations, are not quite so brisk at 3s 4d to 3s 4£d ; 6hriveiled parcels range from Id to 2d lower. Broken wheat is badly wanted among local dealers at 2s 9d to 3s. .

Oats!— The Southern growers being in the market with large stocks has had the effect of easing this market in feed lines; but their quality not being up to prime milling, the business here in this class has been fairly well maintained at 2s to 2s Id; short feed is plentiful at Is lid; Tartar and Danish range from Is 9d to.ls lid. Fair 6arnples of dun oats are offering.

IJarley.—This grain is offering in large quantities, and the maltsters being full up has had the effect of weakening the local markets, and there is little demand for shipment. Extra choice parcels would not bo passed at 3s 3d to 3s .Id. Medium quality ia unsaleable at the moment. Feed has a rather better demand-at 2s to 2s 2d, country districts buying largely for pig feed; local consumption is also good for meal.

Pease have been qniet during the week, Prussian blues selling at 3s 9d to 4s, while feed sorts fetch 3a to 3s 3d.

Beans have had an exceedingly busy week for Heine shipment. Large quantities have changed hands at from 2s 9d to 2s lOd, and the market has closed firm at the latter figure. Ryegrass and Cocksfooi.—These seeds have had little business to note during the week, and last quotations are applicable. Potatoes.—There have been numerous inquiries as to probable opening prices for the blues, but little business has been absolutely: dono. Quotations stand at 47s to 50d. :-

Dairy Produce.-These markets are still uusettled, but prices are unaltered.
