Auckland, April 10. Mr Blew, city contractor, was brought up at. the Police Court on three charges of challenging the Mayor (Mr Waddell) to fight. Wellingion, April 10. Mr Tole, Minister of Justice, leaves to-mor-row on a short visit to the Wapganui district, aftor which ha will probably visit the Middle Island. It has been Mr Tole's intention for some time past to make the latter visit, but owing to the absence of Sir J. Vogel be has been unable to get away, Mr Buckley has now returned from his Nelson visit, and speaks in satisfactory terms of his inspection there. The rumour current in legal circles some time ago as to the probable early retirement of one or more of the Judges of the Supreme Court has recently been, revived, and it is stated that the vacancies will arise very soon. Fresh arrangements have now been mado as to turning the first sod of the North Island Main Trunk railway. - Inßtead of the Governor turning the first sod at the Marton end, and Tawhiao nt Te Awamutu, it is now intended to dispense with any formal ceremony at the southern end, and that tho three chiefs —Wahanui, Taonui, and Kewi-shall jointly officiate at the northern end on tho 15th inst,, the Premier being present on tho occasion,
