Dunedin Finance, Loan, and Agency Com jmk^J I*™lfced)1 *™lfced) v- Theophilus Daniel.—Claim T }a-j ' on a JudSment summons.—Defen aant did not appear, and an order was made for the payment of the amount by the Ist of August, in default six months' imprisonment in the Invercargill Gaol. George A. Clark v. Thomas Eaßon.—Claim £30 14s sd, on a dishonoured bill.—Mr Hosking appeared for the plaintiff.—Defendant on being called admitted the claim, and judgment was given for the plaintiff for the amount olaimed Daniel Wadsworth v. Robert Hewett— Claim £4 los.—Judgment was given for plaintiff, defendant admitting tha claim. A. and T. Burt v. New Zealand Hardware Company.—Claim £29 18s, for a security entered into. —Mr Chapman appeared for plaintiffs, Mr_ Haggitt for defendants;—Mr Chapman replied to a number of points raised by the opposing counsel, and his Worship reserved judgment.
Waimea Plains Railway Company v J Beattie.-Claim £12 63 Bd, for rates due under the District Railways Act.—Mr Hageitt an-paarc-.l for the Company, Mr Hoakinff for the defendant.—Mr Hosking submitted that judgment should be given for the defendant for the following reasons. It had been shown that the town district of Gore was within the railway district, and the valuation roll for tho town district had not been used for tho purpose of levying the rate—tho sections owned by the defendant being within the town district.— His Worship gave judgment for plaintiffs Same v. Edward Bronnan.—Claim SIS 63 Bd, for railway rates.—ln this case judgment also went in favour of the Company.— Mr Hosking gave notice of his intention to appeal Wright, Stephenson, and Co. v. Robert E Moore.-Olaim £1110s, for a mare sold -Mr Haggitt appearod 'for the plaintiffs, Mr" Stout for the defendant.--!); appeared that the mare had been purchased at an auction sale by defendant. A day or two' afterwards the mare died, and defendant refused to pay for her — The defence was that' the mare had been purchased as one suitable for riding out with a butcher's basket.
