THE HON. MR DICK.
The Committee appointed to draw up a requisition asking the Hon. Mr Dick to reconsider his decision not to be called to the Legislative Council met yesterday morning. An apology for his absence from W. P. Street, Esq., Mayor, was received, expressing entire sympathy with the movement. The name of the Rev._Dr Stuart was added to the Committee at his request. The meeting unanimously resolved to present the following requisition :—
Dunedio, July 21,1881. To the Hon. Thomas DicV, Coloi.iil Secretary. Sir,—We, tho undersigned electors, hive noticed with regret a statement made by you publicly dutiug the loeont content for Dunediu West that, H not elected, you would ioluso to take, i! offered, a seit in tho Legislative Council. We bolievo th..t the publ c sorvlcoa you hwo rendered to the country during the last 25 year?, and the high personal esteem generally entertained for you, render you specially eligible f .r such a position. We trusi thit it a teat in tho Council is offered to you you will reconsider your decision and accept tho same.
Resolved —"That copies of the requisition be printed for signature."
