He went to tha Chatharas, and thence down to tha Tonga Group in the South Sea Islands, and met with some luok OS Apia. He left Apia oa September Bth, and arrived at the Chatham! on October Ist. The season there commences In Kovcinber. On November 2gth the fjret whales were aeon at the grounds. The SplendH had lust taken a e»tch, when the arm of the windlass used lor drawing up the fish broke.
