The debate in the Legislative Assembly on Mr Munro's motion was continued to a late hour last night, but was at length adjourned till to-day.

The Union Company's new steamship Hauroto, from Glasgow (October 25th), arrived here to-day. The Union Company's steamer Ringarooma arrived this afternoon, from the Bluff.

It is announced that tho Union Steam Ship Company have purchased the steamer Suva, 293 tons, from Messrs J. M'Ewan and Son, by whom she has for some time past been employed in the trade between Fiji and Melbourne. The Company intend employing one of their large steamers on that line, and the Suva will be engaged in the islands as a feeder to the trade. It has further transpired that the Company have made arrangements to open a branch establishment at Melbourne on January Ist, under the management of MiDavid Mills.

Wheat is quoted at 5s 3d to os 3d for shipping parcels. Malting barley is firm at 3s lOd to -tsf. New Zealand oats are very quiet ; feeding qualities are worth 3s 9d to 4s 2d, and milling from 4s 2d to 4s 4d.

Messrs Goldsbrough and Co. (Limited) report a large attendance of buyers at their wool sale to-day, and brisk competition. Greasy wools realised from 8d to 12^d, and washed from lCd to 23Jd. 5000 bales wore sold.
