DRAINAGE. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —I read with pleasure, or rather with great approbation, your leader on the drainage question, because I feel that this vital subject has been too long neglected, and that the "only way of grappling with the difficulty is as you suggest. Would Mr Thomson, the Mayorelect, take the matter in hand, and' signalise his term of office by carrying the scheme into effect? There are difficulties iin the way, but not more than perseverance and tact oan overcome. Either a public mepting should be held, or someone interested should buttonhole him and talk it over. —I am, &c, Paterfamilias. Dunedin, December 12th.
