ROSLYN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A meeting ot the Roslyn Borough Council was hold on Thursday evening, and was attended by the Mayor (Mr R. Chisholm), Crs Fraser, Begg, Farley, Lambert, Ritchie, Strachan, Haggitt, A. Mollison, and G. S. Matheaon. WORKS COMJIITTRK. The Works Committee's report, which was adopted, stated that the inspector had been instructed to stop flood-water from flowing on Mr P. Duncan's proporty in Kilgour Ward. It had becn-decidod to call tenders for tho erection of a pound, and for the formation of a footpath in Ann street. The Committee could not recommend the formation of the Littlebourne road, as there were other works of a more pressing1 nature to bo done. l-HOrOSKD LOAN. Cr Mathicson moved—"That as tho funds at tho disposal of the Roslyn Borough Council are already exhausted by works on hand, salaries, &c, it is essentially necessary, in order to supply the borough with passable streets and footpaths, to borrow a sum of £4000."--The motion was, after discussion, lost by a small majority. MAIN' ROAD. On tho motion of Cr _Hacgitt, it was resolved —" That a deputation, consisting of the Mayor and Crs Begg and Haggitt, bo appointed to wait upon his Worship tho Mayor of Dimedin,. and request him that tho City Council should cause the footpath on the main road from Roslyn to Dunedin through the Town Belt from tho site of the old toll-bar to Battray street to bo kerbed and channelled." NOTICES OF MOTION. Cr Mathhson gave notice of his intention to move—"That the inspector of works be instructed to inspect Queen street, Kirkland Hill, and Manso street, and report to the Council what steps are necessary to render them passable"; and "That the Town Clerk be instructed to open a ward account, showing the debit and credit account of each ward, commencing from April, 1882." Cr Hagoitt submitted the following notice of motion: —"That the footpath on tho east side of High street, between Charlotte street and Frederick street, bo kerbed with wooden kerbing and channelled, at the joint expense of the Council and the proprietor: of the adjoining property." GENERAL. It was resolved that the clerk (Mr Wedge) should be appointed rcturuiiig-cJFicer for the borougli and also for tho various ward 3. The Council agreed that the clerk should invite tenders from tho daily and evening papprs for the borough's advertisements.
0n the motion of Cr A. C. Beqq it was agreed—" That the scale of charges in connection with impounded animals be the same as those charged by the Dunedin Corporation." The clerk was appointed poundkeeper.
