CAITHNESS, SUTHERLAND, ORKNEY, AND SHETLAND ASSOCIATION. The Caithness, Sutherland, Orkney," and Shetland.Association held their annualmeeting for the election of office-bearers in the Athenfflum Hall on Wednesday. Mr W. D. Sutherland occupied the chair. Before pro-eeeding-with:.thp. ordinary^business...the _Chairman, in an elaborate speech, presented one of the members—Mr W. B. Maekay, of Port Chalmers—on the eve of his departure from Otago, with a very artistically engrossed illuminated address, embodying the good wishes of the Association towards him and the esteem in which he was held by them. The Committee submitted their report for the year ending 1831, It showed that during the past year seven new members had been elected, and the names of 50 had been erased as unfinancial, &c.; tho total number on the books, at present being 258. The receipts for ihe year amounted to £784 4s 2d, and" £he expenditure to £778 7s, and the amount standing to the credit of the Society was £1207 7s lOd. There had been £wo deaths of members during the year —James Cpoper and Joseph Woodcock—and the amount disbursed to sick members amounted to £239" i? ,?d, this being the largest sum paid "away for tin? purpose sinc6 the inauguration of the Society. ' ELECTION OP OFFICERS. Mr Grant also returned thanks on being elected to the office of vice-president. The following committee was elected: — Messrs ,J, Mattliewson, W. "Crombio," P. M'Lean, A, IMe, B. Dawson, P. Murphy, C. Williams, J, Davis, J. M'Donald, T. Mann, W. Douglas, A. Mailing, and King. Arbitrators; Messrs tr. Mo.nk, N. Moriarty, Thompson, Graham, Robinson, Wallace, and Michaelis were elected. Auditors : Messrs D. Donovan and George H, Ashcroft were reappointed. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the proceedings. ,
