ORAKANUI COLLEGE ATHELETIC SPORTS.

A considerable number of Indies and gentle, men interested in Orsskanui College assembltd at Blueskin on Wednesday last, to witness the annual athletic sports of the pupila attending that institution.

An excellent course of 440 yards circnm ference had been Inid out in a field kindly le.it by Mr K. B. Ferguson. A programme ul 20 events in running, walking, and leanirg was <rone through in a spirited manner. Tho Rev II L. Stanford officiated as judge, and gave great satisfaction by hia decisions. The handi cappers, Messrs Milne and R. M'Lesn, are to bo complimented on their work, &s a number of exceedingly close finißhea gave interest to the spectators. We subjoin the prize-list :— 100 Yards Flat Rack (open).—Conrad C^ntroll, 1! J. H. Stephenson, 2.—Four entries. Time, 111 scu. 100 Yards Flat Rack (under 15.) — Reynolds Driver, 1; Elliston Orbell, 2.—Eight faced the starter Time, 12 sec.

Kussino Hion Jdmp.—Conrad Cantrell, 1; J. H. Stephenson, 2.—Three entriea. A good contest resulted In this event, Cantrcll winning with a leap of 4 feet 7J inches.

Ladies' Prizb (half-mile).—Allen Orboll (College cup), 1; J. 11. Stephenson, 2; H. Driver, 3.—Nine entries. This race was the grand event of the day. Stephenson wa9 on the scratch line, but very short starts to the other competitors, and was only beaten on the post, with H. Driver well up for third P 100 Yards Flat Race (under 13).—Charles Cantrel', 1 ; 11. Driver, 2.-Five entries. All who had entered in this event toed the line. Charles Cantroll won a jjood race. Stcphenson failed to clear the bar at 7ft lOiin, which Cantrell cleared in extremely graceful style. Mr Duncan's Prize (200 yards).—A. Orbell, I.— Xiue entries. This event was won by a scratch man, with 11. Driver second.

Half-milk Klat Rack (imdorlfi).—G. West, 1; W. Cantrell, 2 ; K. Driver, 3.—Eight entries.—West, with, a start of 40 yards, proved himself much too good tor tho cumpany. TiiRKK-iiKOGED Race.—J. H. Stcphenson and C. Cantrell, I.—Three couples entered. Loxo Jump. Conrad Cantrell, A. Orbell, equal.— Five entries. The ground was rather too slippery for good records. Haw-milk Walking Rack (under 13).—Ch. Ountrell, 1; G. West, 2.-H x competitors entered the arena, and showed some good sport. The walking of the winner, who started from scratch, was much admired. F. Stanford (nine years) walked very pluekily, and secured the honour of third place. Hop, Step, asd Jump.—Conrad Ciutrell, 1; J. H. SteplißDson, 2.—Four entries. Coxsolatio.v Kace (410 yards).—H. Driver (scratch) 1; S. Hales (50 yards), 2"—Six entries. This was a very well-contes ed race, and H. Driver's victory was well received by his com rides.

Old Bow" Kace.—lt.M'Lcan, 1.-Three entries. A gift to the winner.
