VITAL STATISTICS. The vital statistics for January are aß> follows:— Borough. Births. Deaths. Zymotic diseases caused 78 deaths in January, against 33 in December, an increase of 45, or within one of the total increase for themonth. Of these, dysentery and diarrhoea*, caused an increase of 34 deaths during January,. there being 18 in December, againat 52 in January. In Wellington alone there were 19» deaths, or half the total increase. Of the> 52 deaths from this cause, 42 were of infante under one year.
