ITALIAN SETTLEMENT IN QUEENSLAND.
The departure from Italy of the small expedition under Count Franceschi to form a settlement iv Queensland, the arrival of which at Brisbane was telegraphed yesterday, is thus referred to in the Italian journal La Provinciadi Pisa :-— October sth. The young Count Giuseppe Franceschi has left for Australia, whore he intends founding an Kalian Colony and establishing commercial ra« lations between Italy and that distant region. With this object, he has taken with him several families from our country districts, and has provided himself with seeds, plants, agricultural implements, aud samples of cloths. When he arrives in Australia he will purchase a quantity of land, on which he will place hi 3 small Colony. Before leaving lie had a conference with the Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs, and he also received euconraging recommendation:: from the English Government. Count Franceschi will embark at Haniburg with those accompanying him, and his merchandise, in a sailing vessel, which will arrive at Brisbane in a little more than four months. This worthy young man shows thus a noble example of which his fellow-citizens may be proud.
