A certain reproach for a long time attaching to the schooner Tauranga has been removed by the very thorough repairing she has been submitted to whilst on Fletcher's Slip at the Port. There is no douht but that she was shaky in the upper works on her starboard side, from amidships to the fore part of the fore jigging, for she was run into by another vessel, and - several of her timbers were fractured or displaced. All the repaits she then received amounted 10 no more ' than mere patching up, and, as a consequence, she always leaked in the weak place, and acquired a bad name. However, she has how received justice, and is again in first-rate sea-goinj; order. Seventeen new timbers tf broad leaf have- been fixed in her starboard side, and six i.ew ones in the port aide, tier sheer stroke In the st trbeard side has been partly replaced ■with new wood, and a new stringor has been fixed inside to port, just below the water way. Her hull has been cauiked in the bends, and the copper on her bottom renewed wherever necessary. If it does not blow too hard the Tauranga will be launched off the . slip this morning. The schooner Martha Reid has been taken off Isbister's slip, and is at anchor in the bay, waiting for a slant of wind to sail for PoitMolyneux. Whilst on ■ IBbistor's <she was generally overhauled, cleaned, and The ketch Isabella was hauled upon Sutherland's slip yesterday morning to be overhauled and undergo some slight necessary repairing. Tho cutter Jane came down from Dunedm yesterday morning and anchored. She sails for Catlin's Hiver first slant. ; The steamer Shag left for Shag Point and Mceraki some time during Tuesday night. The intensity of Tuesday's gale toned down a little during the night, but it held what may be termed a hard dry blow up to noon y.sterday, when it again freshened up and blew furiously in squalls throughout the afternoon. •Barometers bept low, about 29.0, until noon, and then moved up smartly, an indication we nope that the heart of the gale is broken. Such a gale must seriously prejudice ripening crops in the agricultural The schooner Bencleuch, bound from Lyttelton to the Bluff, put into the Heads weather-bound, and anchored on Tuesday. She is still there, in company ■with the ketoh Catlin, bound to the southward, we prebume the ket :hes Anna and Fanny, bound to Catlin's River, ketch Hope, end the tchooner Zior, bound to the Bluff. Anchored off the Port, weather-bound, are tho ketches Alpha, Jessie, cutter Hope, batind to Catlin's River, the schooner Maid of Otago, Lound to the Bluff, and schooner Martha Keid. The O. and D. S.S. Company's steamer Waitaki, Captain Edie, returned from Oamaru yesterdaj afternoon, making a capital run up against a W.S. VV. gale andheadseain 5 hours 10 minutes to the New Pier. Sho brought 40 passengers, who vere Bent to Dunedin by special train, and these landed, she transhipped 179 bales ol wool to the Calyp3O and 12 to the JUataura, and went up to Dunedin in ti.o evening. She leaves again for Oamaru to-morrow morning. The steamer Ringarooma leit yesterday afternoon for Melbourne via Bluff. The s'.eamsr Wakatipu left for Sydney, via Lyttelton and Wellington, yesterday evening. She will not call at West Coast ports this trip, in order that her roiurn hare may be hastened for the purpose of docking. She will bo cleaned, etc., before she leave 3 again. The steamer VVanganui leavta for the Bluff this forenoon, and embarks passengers by the 10.5 train from Dunedin. She was datained last night by the weather. Tho steamer Samson left for Oamaru last night. The schooDer Jane Hannah, bound to Catlin'3 Kiver, left the Upper Harbour yes erday, but got no further ' than the cross channel, off Sawyer's Bay. there ancliorug. _ The stoimer Maori was toweii down from Dunedin last evening by the batason, and will be taken into the Floating Dock this moraing, to be repaired in her niidship section. _^_
