At an influential meeting held last night, the Mayor in the chair, it was decided to celebrate the anniversary day with a regatta and an anniversary dinner in the evening. A good sum of money was collected in J the room, and it is thought that, financially, the 'coming regatta will exceed any previous one. •There will be eleven or twelve events in the programme. - ;

: Mr J. H. Wallace reports from the Hutt Cattle Market: Mixed cows, £4 15s ; milch cows, £5 to £8 ; steers, £2 17s 6d ; useful hacks, £8 to £14. The market is brisk.

Auckland, January 7th. Christ-church. January 7th. The Hon. C. C. ■ Bowen addressed the Rangiora section of the Kaiapoi electors yesterday, and was well received. A motion promising to use every effort to secure his return was unanimously carried.
