ROYAL RECOGNITION. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir—Of all new Zealand, Otago is conspicuously the foremost in takiag advantage of that sensible and beneficial measure "The Land Transfer Act," which does away with all the old-fashioned, complicated, and expensive preparation of titles in dealing with land, and renders the selling of land as simple an any other article of sale. In the folks of Ofcngo so thoroughly recognising this Act, they will read with pleasure and reassurance of the honour conferred by the Imperial (*overnrnent upon the author of the Act, as per the following extract from a Northern paper: — "The Queen haa approved the appointment of Mr Robert Richard Torrens, M.P., to be Kniyht Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, in recognition of his colonial services, and more especially in connection with the ftegißfcration of' Titles to Lands Act, first enacted in South Australia, and sabaetjnentiy adopted by other Australian colonies."---I am, &c, W. Davryuvvk, Junr., Licensed T/iud Broker.
