THE VOLUNTEERS.
The usual monthly competition for the Portobello Rifle Rangers' ch.illenge medal took place last Saturday afternoon. The weather was very bad, a. strong wind blowing across the range from the right, accompanied with bitter cold rain. The range was also very wet, having been flooded by the late high tides. The conditions of the competition were—Five shots at each range ; no sighting shots allowed -/ranges 400, 500, and GOO yards ; position, any. Medal to be won tliroe times by the same party.
