RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before I. N. Watt, Esq., R.M.) Robertson n. Andrews.—A claim for 17 days' wages on board the cutter Advance, £2 Bs. It appeared that defendant had refused to pay plaintiff, on the ground tliafe he left his service without notice, and also because he abandoned the vessel without taking precautions to protect her from injury. The plaintiff retaliated by saying that on several occasions there was only a. .$ very limited supply of provisions on board. Defendant admitted that one day there was no meat on board,. His Worship gave judgment for defendant. Inspector of Slaughter-houses v. Leal.—Aft the instance of Sergeant Bevan, the application of Thomas Leal, of Caversham, for a slaughtering license, was refused, the officer stating that the applicant had not sufficient accommodation, aud that the site of his premises was unsuitable.
