TO THE EDITOR.
i Sir—ln reply to a question proposed to Mr Macandrew at his meeting in the Masonic Hall, he said that nothing had been done since 1867 in redemption of the pledge he then gave to devote all the influence of b!is office to accomplish separation between the Northern and the Middle Island. According to your report of a meeting at Port Chalmers on Saturday evening, it appears Mr Macandrew has discovered that his Masonic Hall statement was incorrect, and that he has ". taken steps to get financial separation for the Middle Island." J ~Will Mr Macandrew be good enough to favour us with a little more light on thia subject, and tell us what the steps were, and where and when taken.—l am, &c, 1 ' Another Elector.!
