PROSPECTUS; '■' Ty E propose to begin the publication of a * » Monthly Magazine devoted to tho interests ©f Christianity. We wiU shortly issue the first number. The name wiU be "THE CHRISTIAN PIONEER." . It wiU not be devoted to the interests of any party, but wUI unflinchingly oppose all departures from the simplicity of ApostoUc Christianity. We believe that in the days of the Apostles the Church of Christ was nofe composed of parties, but was the " one body." It will be our endeavor to plead for » restoration of the ancient order of things. Ia order to that we shall' advocate the Bible* and the Bible alone, as oiir ouly rule of faith and practice, beUeving that if its teachings were more widely known and better under* stood, the progress of Christianity would be accelerated and Christian union promoted. It shall be our aim to set forth the " truth as it is in Christ;" oppose error whereve* found; and reprove unrighteousness with Christian fidelity, regardless of pleasing or displeasing men. We shall, therefore, write without party bias or prejudice. It is sometimes meet for the reUgious world to look to its positions and surroundings. We must compare our conclusions with the Divine Original, always being sure of this one thing—that we have an approved precedent, or, " thus saith the Lord," for every item of faith and practice. There is a, spiritof enquiry among the people. They are not satisfied with the present divided state ef the reUgious world. It is not difficult for even a casual observer to perceive the difference between Modern and ApostoUc Christianity, as weU in the presentation of the Gospel as in the organisation and order of the churches. It is the province of journalists to promote a spirit of enquiry, and always make the truth the great object of search. As we- contend for truth alone, and iv opposition to every form of error, we claim the sympathy and support of the entire brotherhood. Let every member of the Church of Christ take at least one copy, and let one in each church eoUect and forward subscriptions without delay. We propose to improve and increase the size of the work as soon as we are assured of the nscessary support. The "Christian Pioneer" wiU consist, at present, of sixteen pages octavo, and wiU be issued at four shillings per annum, payable in advance. It wiU be published montMyj in Adelaide. AU communications to be addressed to T. J, Gore, Adelaide, South Australia. H. S. EARLI j Editors > Adelaide.; G. L. SDRBER, Cor Editor, Melbourne. Adelaide, May 28, 1868. Subscriptions for the above Journal wUI bo received, and copies suppUed, by J. C. Kroon, confectioner, George street.
