"^TOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that -*-* Tenders wUI be received at this office mntU Saturday, the eighth day of August next, for the performance of the under-men-tioned Steam MaU Service, for a period of "twelve months from the commencement of Hhe contract, determinable at that date, or any subsequent date, by three months' previous notice On either side :— 1; From the Manukau to Port C&almers via, the West Coast, calling at Taranaki, Nelson, Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton, and back to Manukau by the same route. Thia Service to commence from the Manukau on the 4th of October, 1868. 2. From the Bluff to Auckland via the East Coast, calling at Port: Chalmers, Lyttelton, WeUington, and Napier, and back to the Bluff by the same route. This Service to commence from the Bluff on the 3rd of October, 1868. The dates of arrivals and departures at the ports to be in accordance with a Time liable to be seen at the Chief Post-office, Dunedin. The Postmaster-General to have lihe power to alter the dates. A proper and secure room to be provided • for the custody of the MaUs, and a chief ;«abin passage, frse of cost, for a Postal officer. AU Mails to be landed, shipped, and transhipped by and at the expense of the con- - tractor, excepting at Taranaki. The names, tonnage, and horse-power of She vessels proposed to be employed in this "Service to be stated; and the vessels to be approved, by the Postmaster-General, and, subject to be surveyed by some person appointed by him, whenever he may consider it ■>■■ . The Postmaster- General to have the power of detaining the vessels for twenty -f our hours at any port, and for three days at Wellington, to await, .the arrival of the steamers from Panama,,when necessary, without charge; "the rate of demurrage per hour for any further detention to be stated. . Tender^ to state the rate per.diem, or ©therwise, for passages for members of-the deneral Assembly, and officers of .the General Government, exclusive of wines„spirits, &c.
