« (FROM, OUIt OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, Friday. A meeting of merchants was hold today, to promote the formation of a Company for constructing a Graving Dock in Evans Bay. it was influentially attended. Groves haa been somo time prospecting in Wairarapa. He lately traced quartz, but without finding gold. A telegram, just received, states that ho has struck gold, and brought into Greytown twelve splendid specimens. The position ia in the range between Wairarapa and Manawatu.
