Zealand, for the conveyance of her Majesty's Mails for one year, terminable thereafter by three months* notice— 1. A steamer leaving Otago on the first Monday in May, and proceeding thence to Manakau via Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, Nelson, and Taranaki; leaving Manakau on the third Monday in May back to Otago by the same route, and so on, making the voyage every four weeks. Sufficient mail accommodation to be provided to the satisfaction of the Postmaster-General, and a free passage for a post office clerk in charge of the English mail, if required. The Postmaster-General to fix the dates of arrival and departure at each part, and to have the power of detaining any vessel for 24 hours without charge j the rate of charge for further detention to be stated in the tenders.
