CHARLIE CHAPLIN'S WOES.
The "Los Angeles Examiner" says that Mrs Mildred Hani* Chaplin, the wife of Charlie Chaplin, will take legal action unless her hubband returns to her.
Mis Chaplin asserts that hei husband \ has not been livina with her for several ' months. She said:—"l am forced to conclude that he does not want to live with me. I do not want divorce or money, but I must have mpport " She added that she had placed the matter in the hands of her attorney, and must seek a divorce unless conditions were remedied. A message .'from Los Angeles says that Charlie Chaplin has issued a hot denial of his wife's charge of to support her. "I have," he said, "more than £IO,OOO worth of cancelled cheques that I paid on her behalf during our brief married life." .This amount was additional to hei salary of over £2OO weekly. "Until her outbreak," he added,— "I did not refuss payment of one' solitary request or bill she presented. I tried to be gentlemanly and act 'with dignity." When' shown Chaplin's statement Mrs Chaplin said:—"Previously I did not intend to press the charge of non-support-,-but to base a claim for. divorce on Charlie's desertion and cruelty. "But." she declared. "I shall do so now. showing how he 'failed to provide for me."
