I (Special to the Oamaru Mail.) "WELLINGTON. March 12. A large deputation of Napier and Gisborne representatives from an area stated to involve one-seventh of the capital value of ihe North Island, interviewed Mr Massey, Sir William Fraser. and the Hon. J. G. Coates to urge the immediate beginning of the Waikaremoann electrical scheme. Sir William Fraser deprecated hostility to small local schemes which will provide earlier power. Mr Massey explained that the, labor difficulty was more serious than the money, cmestion. The deputation assured the Ministers that they could get an ample supply of* Maori labor in the district, and also undertook to secure a steamer to bring hardwood from Australia, while the local bodies would supply teams for the transport of material at cost price. Mr Massey promised to consider the possibility of making an appropriation for the development of the work next, session.
