THE PRICE OF BREAD.

By Telegraph. (Special to the Oamaru Mail.) WELLINGTON. March 11. One factor quoted by the master bakers' regarding a higher price for bread was the increased wages of their employees. They obtained permission to raise the.retail prices, and now the Wellingtorf bakers have received a further demand from their- employees for an increased bonus owing to the high cost- of living.

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 11. The bread prices dispute has .been settled.

The Prime Minister, in- an interview, stoted that the Dominion representatives of the master bakers- had had a. further conference with the Board of Trade, and-the bakers had agreed to the proposals of the Government viz., that the increase in the counter price was to be §d per 21b loaf, and' 2d on bread delivered over the prices ruling in February last. A comprehensive statement showing in detail tho cost of the manufacture of bread, and the returns made from its- sale, is to be .supplied monthly by each master baker to the Board of Trade, and if, after examination of these statements, it is shown that the prices fixed are- r.ot equitable, the. position will be reconsidered 1 bv the Government.

The prices will operate throughout the Dominion as from Saturday next, the 13th instant, and" are general in their application.
