The result of the inspectors' report was entirely satisfactory, and the same may be said of the proficiency examination. Wo are also pleased to saythat the roll number is well up to last year, while the average attendance has also been good. The Committee desires to congratulate the headmaster and staff upon the progress during the year, and trust that the iriiprovement will.be well maintained. We have also to congratulate the boys for winning the football banner this year. • Mr J. Burns (president) and. Mr R. Sang (secretaryof the North Otngo Rugby Sub-Union, attended the school and presented the banner won and congratulated the boy? on their year's play. The scriptural lessons under the diction of theßev. J. D. Russell and Rev. G. H. Lawrence were continued with unabated success, and the attendance of the pupils and their interest in the lessons, were well maintained. During the Christmas holidays the charwoman attended to her duties and kept the school well cleaned and had everything in readiness to start school

again. During the year the Education Bond have had the old fence around the school taken away and the trees cut down and have had a new fence erected, which has greatly improved the look of the school ground and the park also. . During March Mr Ha una. one of the staff, lias started a drum and fife band and by'the manner and the way the boys are practising it will not bo long before we hear them in public. The work will greatly improve their marching' and- drills. There have been 13 Committee meetings held during the year, and the, -members' have attended as follows: Jas. .Ogilvie (chairman) 13, W.'l-ygall (secretary) 13, F. Chase (treasurer) 13, J. H Grenfell 12. Wm. Westphal 11. (.'.'Chalmers 12, J. Gilchrist 13. V. Castle 12 J- H. Cunningham 12. In conclusion your Committee beg to tender their thanks to the children of the school for the patriotic spirit thev have shown this year in foregoing their prizes and by so doing were able to hand over to the Red Cross fund Cl 6 and to the g"ls and lady teachers who worked so hard to help tho different committees to supply service ba"s. handkerchiefs, face towels, and all" other necessaries for the soldiers who are fighting at the front, ami to the parents and friends who helped so liherallv with the lists.
