APPEAL FOR HOLLAND'S LIBERATION.

By Telegraph. (Special to tho Oainaru Mail.) Wellington, July 8. In the course of a deputation to tho Premier to-day. an earnest appeal was made on behalf of the Federated Timber Workers of New Zealand for the release of Henry Holland. Mr Massey replied that the Government had nothing to do with the administration of law in any British country. Holland broke the law- and Mas tried hv tho Supreme Court, the Chief Justice presiding. He, the. Premier, would express no opinion as to tho severity of the sentence, and thought it would be a very serious -matter if Government- or Parliament interfered .•with the decision of the law courts. The Government could.'therefore make no recommendation for a remission of Holland's sentence. If any member of tho Government broke the law he would have to take the consequences, the same as anyone else. =======================
