THE WAIHI STRIKE.

(Per Press Association-'' , . . AVaihi, October 28. A well-attended meeting of miners working under the arbitration laws was held here on Saturday to elect officers. Tlie men were enthusiastic, arid expressed satisfaction at the progress be'ing made by the secretary, who had been kept busy enrolling-names and taking subscriptions. It is anticipated! that a number of local men will enrol in the course of the next few'days. At a meeting at Waikino a irtiintoer of new names were handed, in for membership. All credit, has been stopped at Knrangahake owing to the recent stoppage of work at the Talisman mine. The transmission l poles in connection with the "Wailii Company's electrical powrr scheme* are now within three; miles of AVaihi. Tile installation is expected to he ready early next year. .
