FARMERS' UNION SHIELD.

To the Editor. Sir,—l noticed in your columns the other day the result of the shoot for the Farmers' Union Shield. One score in particular averaged, I believe, 103 out. of a possible 105 for each man. As the conditions wore out "of the ordinary—viz., kneeling at 200 and 300 yards, and taking into consideration that this club has not the most experienced shots'in New Zealand—l think the shooting of the Goodwood Rifle Club most extraordinary. It is a pity the team for Bisley had been, picked so early, as with-: out a doubt that team would have been, considerably strengthened with sucli brilliant stars as are in this particular, rifle club. ■

Perhaps some of your local sliots might be able to throw a little light on this subject, as.such shooting ps took ; place is certainly enough to .take One's breath away. Could you tell me what sort of markers you have in Otagq, as thev most certainly can't ;miss mnch.< Trusting some more able scribe tlian myself will write on this subject.—l'am, etc., COCKATOO. Waimate, June 1, 1911.
