Moran. w!io bravely rescued a. man who was being carried to ,w ntCowentown Meads at C'liristmas, and who was awarded the lin mane Society's gold medal, was presented by -the Mayor on behalf of the public of Waihi with a gold medal and clasp. Moran kept his companion above water over two hours.' They were eventually hauled ashore in an exhausted condition. A month ago Moran was rendered tflteUy blind by aii explosion in the mine. The concert was given to aid him.
