Addressing the Chamber of Manufacturers .the chairman declared that a serious, industrial danger was growing a^ertain class, of trades iinionistSj Who while seeking high wages were not prepared to give the same efficient work jJs. bpfore. The principle which set tjlg .pace of the slowest and most incompetent workmen as that oft the quickest' and most efficient was pernicious in the extreme. He also complained thdt .there were many evidences of plejasuiib forming too large a part of the Jife of the nation, and complained .that this was likely to make work of play play of work.
