The Federal Arbitration Court delivered judgment in the Enginedrivers' and Firemen's Association of Australia's claim, affecting a large number of leading mines throughout the Commonwealth. The rates were fixed hi -foU lows : Locomotivo and winding enginedrivers lis to 12s daily, other enginedrivers 9s to 10s; firemen in charge of one boiler 8s 4d, two boilers 9s; greasers and cleaners, Bs. The Court did not think a case had been made out for preference to unionists. The working hours would be 48 ! weekly j excepting in the case of locomotive drivers, regarding whom it was impossible to fix the hours..
