Major-Grneral Godley reviewed the local Territorials . to-night, and addressed them: He said, he was pleased with, the material and with the soldierly appearance of the men, and hoped the companies would be increased to their full strength" with, the same stamp of men. He" warned them that no man was a soldier who did not keep his arms clean. He did not infer that the local arms were not 1 clean, but there.were such in tlie Domiiiibn, and it had to be stopped. He hoped the old soldiers would stick : to the. work, and stiffen tlie ranks. General Cbdlev said he had read the mi'itary history'of Taranaki, 1 and was much impressed "by it:
